"Sweet and aromatic nose, pungent mushrooms and smoky, earthy notes fight with considerable vanilla oak. Primary flavours of rose petal and blackcurrants. Fruity, soft and svelte on the attack and initial texture, however, I detect a slightly tight and lean mid-palate which will hopefully open up with bottle age. The composure of the tannins show that it's knocking on the door of its drinking window but could easily take another 10 years in bottle. Serious persistence of at least 30 secs. Very good wine but not outstanding at this stage. I would have to recommend the Ardanza Reserva Especial 2001 over this for similar money."
