The Society's Argentine Malbec

"I commented negatively after my first bottle of this wine finding it very coarse, but I have just opened the second bottle and found it a delight. Is it me???"

Grant Burge Benchmark Shiraz, 2012, Barossa

"Very smooth. The (mainly cherry) fruit flavours are not overdone, and pepper and spice notes dominate the finish. Fine on its own, but would be a great match for a lasagne or similar food."

Bergerac Blanc Sec, Tour des Gendres, 2011

"Had this at formal Oxford dinner last week. Wouldn't describe it as 'bone dry', but it's a terrific wine, quite rich and full. Everybody enthused about it. It was much more attractive than the presumably pretty distinguished 2005 Tour de By claret that succeeded it."

Professor John L Moles ( 22-May-2013 )

Cabardès, Château de Pennautier, 2011

"I really enjoyed this. As described by the previous reviewers. A bargain too - I will be reordering!"

Mr Aron Hills ( 21-May-2013 )

Pinot Noir, Puy de Dôme, St-Verny, 2010

"I don't think you'll get better Pinot anywhere remotely near this price... Light coloured, aromatic on the nose and savoury-ripe on the palate. Overall demure and quietly rather delightful."

Mr Matthew Hudson ( 21-May-2013 )

Brandal Albariño, Rías Baixas, 2011

"My first impressions on this wine were in agreement with the earlier negative reviews. I found it thin and lacking in flavour or aftertaste. However on the day after opening and raising it to well over fridge temperature it was transformed into a very respectable wine. My suggestion therefore is to open well in advance, possibly even a double decant and give the glass a good cuddle before drinking the wine. Perhaps the negative reviewers should consider this wine again."

Mr Bill George ( 21-May-2013 )

Quinta da Lagoalva, Tejo, 2011

"Every bit as good as when I first tasted it - full bodied, fabulous bouquet, excellent value. Very pleased with the simplicity and good value ethos of The Wine Society."

Villard Le Pinot Noir Grand Vin Casablanca, 2010

"I have been desperately searching for a decent Pinot Noir, smooth, velvety, fruity and with very little or no spice. This wine hit the mark full on! A surprisingly elegant Pinot Noir that punches well above its cost price. Exactly what I have been looking for and will be ordering more soon. "
