Rioja - 2007
A complicated, low-yielding year in Rioja, 2007 required a super selective and protracted harvest. There was a markedly long growing season in which difficult weathers such as hailstorms and summer mildew lowered yields to around 30% less than the norm. Much was owed to technical expertise, with a long harvest period enabling multiple selective harvests to ensure the grapes were all picked at optimum ripeness. Despite its challenges, 2007 was ultimately considered very satisfactory and of good ageing potential.
