Reds:

In recent years, growers in New Zealand have turned their attention to reds with outstanding results. With every new vintage, pinot noir gets better and better across both islands but the area that has progressed the most is Marlborough. Pinots from here are delicious and provide enormous drinking pleasure. Hawkes Bay syrah is also worth seeking out; the warmer climate lends itself well to ripening this Mediterranean grape. The wines have lovely richness but with a European-like structure and balance.
