Tuscany - 2010

Quantity was often a problem but quality did not suffer. Contrary to the recent preceding vintages, 2010 was comparatively cool and with more rainfall than usual. Skill in the vineyard and flexibility at harvest were particularly important, but the best wines are imbued with elegance and sophistication. Giovanni Manetti of Fontodi in Chianti described 2010 as ‘a really a great vintage: the summer was dry and hot but never too much. The wines have a big structure with a good acidity and a lot of elegance. Similar to 2006 but more approachable.’
