The Society's Chianti Rufina

The Chianti region, with its beautiful hills, topped with villas and dotted with cypresses, produces one of Italy's greatest wines. Grati makes lovely, modern style Chianti, principally from sangiovese, underpinning the generous fruitiness with structure from ripe tannins. Three generations of Gratis live on the estate, which is effectively two large well-sited vineyards, Galliga and Vetrice, on a hill overlooking the Sieve Valley. The Rufina district, north east of Florence, rivals Chianti Classico for the quality of its Chianti. This is fruity, soft and perfumed.

A fulsomne, open-hearted example of the Italian favourite, with a lot of intense fruit flavour and ripe tannins. It's aged for about a year in oak barrels, and a good partner for pastas and pizzas, as you might expect, as well as English roasts and good cheeses from any nation. Moderation Policy for Comments and Reviews

The Wine Society pre-moderates comments on articles and reviews on products. This means that comments and reviews will not be published instantly; they will first be checked by the moderators. Moderators will be monitoring the site between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday and will endeavour to process comments and reviews within 48 hours of submission.
