Rhône
Winter and festive dining wouldn’t be the same without the generous and full-flavoured wines from the Rhône. Imagine game pies and wholesome stews without a choice bottle from the Rhône? The Society boasts one of the biggest selections in the UK.
Only 4% of Rhône wines are white but they include some wines of great distinction and with a great affinity with food. Improvements in winemaking have tended to make these wines taste fruitier and fresher. The Rhône has its own grape varieties for white wines with grenache blanc, clairette, marsanne and roussanne the most important.
