For such a small country Israel enjoys a rich range of climatic conditions, from semi-desert to coastal Mediterranean. Sea breezes prevent coastal vineyards from scorching while inland vineyards tend to be at higher (and thus cooler) altitude. New investment in vineyards and cellars and technical advancement has led to vast improvements in the quality of Israeli wine over the last ten years and future prospects are encouraging.
