Finesse and Staying Power

The Rufina valley (the accent is on the first syllable) lies to the north-east of Chianti Classico and is recognised as the one region in Tuscany that can provide wines with the finesse and staying power of the finest classico estates. A cool wind that blows from the north down the valley of the Sieve (pronounced see-ay-vay, rather than like the kitchen utensil) moderates the summer heat, and the slopes along the river banks are ideal for slowly ripening grapes.
