Champagne Laherte Frères, Brut Tradition, Non-Vintage

The church of Chavot stands on a ridge surrounded by vineyards and is a clearly visible landmark. The area is of some interest geologically as this is a point of contact between the chalk of the Côte des Blancs and the clays and silts of the Marne Valley. Both chardonnay and pinot meunier do well here and in addition the Lahertes have vines on the Côte des Blancs itself. The Lahertes farm some 70 different plots, which include old vines and even ancient and largely forgotten varieties. Vines nearest to the cellars are farmed biodynamically. This is their Non-Vintage Brut, dry, fruity, clean and refreshing and based on a majority of chardonnay. Wonderful Champagne for all occasions.

I’m not going to sit under a palm tree by the sea without champagne on hand. The Wine Society always has some that’s little known, well priced and interesting — and I’m sure its van will deliver down there. Moderation Policy for Comments and Reviews

The Wine Society pre-moderates comments on articles and reviews on products. This means that comments and reviews will not be published instantly; they will first be checked by the moderators.   • In The Society's opinion are not likely to adversely affect The Society's reputation or business, to the detriment of its shareholders, the members.
  • Don't impersonate or falsely claim to represent a person or organisation.
  • Are in English. Unfortunately, we do not currently have the resource to moderate comments in other languages.
  • Are on-topic. Please don't post messages that are unrelated to the article or product on which you are commenting or reviewing.
