Hot year producing ripe rich wines, closest to 2000 in style.
Unlike much of northern Europe, Italy basked in blazing sun for most of the summer, producing many gorgeous wines. The only problem was that it was one of the smaller crops for many years, because of the drought, and because of an early widespread attack of peronospora (common in 2007 throughout Europe) –
