Alsace and Lorraine

This eastern region of France is protected by the Vosges mountains and enjoys an unparalleled climate with annual rainfall nearly as low as in the Midi. Despite its latitude, grapes ripen to perfection. Complex geology has taught generations of growers to plant grape varieties to match soil types so that today seven major varieties are planted here. Some are blended together but most are made and bottled separately. See the How to Buy Alsace guide on our website for more information.
