Data Protection Statement
The Wine Society holds personal information about its members but will never pass this information to others to allow them to market to you. This information is used to provide and fulfil your wine and spirit orders, wine reserves, tasting tickets and other services. It may be disclosed to third parties where we are permitted or required by law, or where you have given consent in advance, or when it is necessary, such as making addresses available to carriers for delivery purposes or for collection of card payments.
The Society’s purposes for holding personal information, and a general description of the categories of people and organisations, to whom we may disclose it, are listed in the Data Protection Register. You may inspect this or obtain a copy of the relevant entry from the Office of the Information Commissioner at www.informationcommissioner.gov.uk or mail@ico.gsi.gov.uk.
The Society may contact you from time to time by post, phone, fax or email, to inform you of wines, spirits or related products and services, which may be of interest to you. If you would prefer not to be part of our mailing programme, please write to the mailing team leader at The Society. Calls to The Society may be monitored and recorded for quality assurance purposes and to provide evidence of any transactions. Recordings are stored for no longer than three months. Under the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998, you may request a copy of the details we hold about you on our computer systems. The Society will charge a fee of £10 for providing this information.
