The historic and picturesque walled town of Montreuil-sur-Mer is home to The Society’s French showroom where members can buy Wine Society wines at preferential French rates of duty.

The inspiration behind Victor Hugo’s Les Misérables, the town, with its three kilometres of battlements, cobbled streets, historic buildings, regular street markets and impressive programme of cultural events, and above all else, easy access from the Channel ports, is an excellent destination in its own right.

The Montreuil Savings Guarantee:
When this list went to press, the average saving on still wines collected from Montreuil was equivalent to £23.74 per dozen*. This price list lasts three months during which time exchange rates can vary. To ensure that, whatever the rate, members still benefit from the intended savings, we will guarantee a minimum saving of £15 per dozen. Prices are valid 22nd July - 6th October 2010 (inclusive).

*the savings quoted are based on the prevailing tourist exchange rate at time of going to print and are compared to the normal UK Wine Society List price.

Where is Montreuil?
Set on a hill in a bend of the Canche river overlooking the valley and beyond, Montreuil lies in the province of Artois in the département of Pas-de-Calais. It is 45 miles (73km) from Calais and 38 miles (60km) from Boulogne and driving times from the ports and tunnel are under an hour.

Our showroom premises are located behind the Hôtel Hermitage off Place Gambetta in the town centre, and are accessible on foot through the hotel or by car via the electronic gate of the hotel's secure car park.

The hotel has preferential rates for Wine Society members and its hotel, Le Jéroboam, allows members to drink wine purchased in the showroom for a corkage fee. We have also negotiated special rates for members at other hotels and restaurants in the area.

Monday to Saturday: 10.00am-6.00pm (no lunchtime closure).
