New Members Pack
The Wine Society is owned by its members and exists exclusively for their benefit. Founded in 1874, its aim is to introduce members to the best of the world’s vineyards at a fair price. As a mutual, membership satisfaction is paramount; maximising profit is not. The Society’s buyers are therefore tasked solely with finding high-quality, interesting and value-for-money wines from around the world at all price levels.

The cost of a lifetime share is £40 with no annual fee or obligation. New members will receive £10 towards their first order.

Five Reasons to Join:
1. Good wines, good value:

“Probably the best wine move you’ll ever make”
Jane MacQuitty, The Times

One of The Society’s early Objectives was that: ‘Wines will be sold at the lowest possible price’. The Society buys, on behalf of members, high quality wines that we sell at prices from £4.50 to over £250 a bottle, to suit every pocket and palate.

2. Discover new wines:

‘The Wine Society is constantly probing the four corners of the Earth for new taste experiences, whilst also providing a Rolls-Royce service for those who prefer something traditional’
Oz Clarke’s Wine Buying Guide

The Society’s buyers seek out and sample thousands of new wine discoveries each year and introduce the best of these to experienced and less knowledgeable members alike. While Claret, Burgundy and the Rhône are, of course, passions, the current choice of around 1,500 wines has room for less well-known wines which members are encouraged to explore.

3. A wide range of wines:

‘The buyers are as good at sourcing wines under £6 as they are at buying Burgundies and classed-growth Clarets at £100 or more. I think this is one of the very best selections in the UK’
Tim Atkin, The Observer

Quarterly Lists feature a selection of 800 wines and these are supplemented by many offers throughout the year, including seasonal recommendations, new discoveries, first releases, fine wine lists and annual opening offers of Bordeaux, Burgundy and Rhône en primeur.

4. Outstanding service:

‘A vast selection, remarkably reasonable prices, beautifully stored and bottles delivered as if they were Fabergé eggs. What’s not to like?’
Simon Hoggart, 2009, Decanter World Wine Retail Awards judge

The success of The Society is measured by member satisfaction rather than by profit. With no external shareholders to consider, any profits are used to enhance The Society’s services and prices.

The Member Services team is located in our offices and is trained to serve members’ needs, not to increase sales. Members’ calls are answered directly without pushbutton menus. The Society’s own fleet of vans delivers to the majority of members. Easy ordering is available via www.thewinesociety.com, by telephone or post.
