A Wine Society exclusive taking malbec to new heights
This is a fine, intensely aromatic and brambly malbec. Maturation in wood and concrete vats for about 10 months before bottling has softened the tannins and developed the fine, floral flavours. Elegant and fresh with a long finish, this wine offers superb value at under £10 per bottle. 13%

A rising star
Sebastián Zuccardi is one of Argentina's finest young winemakers. His family first made its name making good-quality wines in the warmer parts of Mendoza. However, recently they have planted vineyards in the best parts of the region's cooler, higher-altitude Uco Valley and built a state-of-the-art winery there.
This move has allowed Zuccardi to start producing truly exquisite wines and I am delighted to have worked with Sebastián on an exclusive blend that shows premium malbec from the Uco Valley at its finest.
Las Piletas means concrete tanks, and this is a key feature of the winemaking at the new Zuccardi winery. Concrete has long been known for its excellent thermal properties for wine storage and maturation, and its usage in fine wine production is now firmly back in vogue, with famous Bordeaux Château Cheval Blanc choosing concrete vats for its new cellar in 2011. Our blend marries concrete-aged wine with wine aged in wood.
