2015 Rhône

Please note that the DEADLINE for in-bond orders has now passed. Demand for some wines printed in the original offer has already exceeded supply so these are no longer available.

You may continue to order but your order will be processed AFTER the main allocation of stock has taken place in approximately 2 weeks time.

Cornas

Bathed in sunlight, the vines of Cornas are among the first to ripen. In this vintage, where complete ripeness was achieved, the wines are full and often dramatic.

Update (26/1): please note that we have added two more wines from Thierry Allemand which were released slightly later and do not appear in our printed offer.

RH44901

Cornas, Domaine Alain Verset 2015

The nephew of the great and much-missed Noël Verset, Alain inherited a part of his uncle’s vineyard. His wine is delicious, deceptively soft, uncomplicated and satisfying. Alain was particularly pleased to have been able to buy barrels from Guigal to further enhance this full-flavoured Cornas, which brims with blackcurrant fruit. 2021–2030.

RH44901 Bottles6 Price£93.00 Type
RH44891

Cornas Champelrose, Domaine Courbis 2015

Elegant Cornas for drinking relatively young. Thickly textured and rich, with delightful flavours of blackcurrant and wild herbs. 2019–2028.

RH44891 Bottles6 Price£98.00 Type
RH44881

Cornas Empreintes, Domaine Durand 2015

The two brothers here farm good plots in the best parts of Cornas, including Patou, Chaillots and Mazard. Syrah from Patou brings richness and Chaillots depth and backbone. The result is a very good Cornas offered at a very fair price. 2021–2032.

RH44881 Bottles6 Price£103.00 Type
RH44911

Cornas Les Grandes Terrasses, Paul Jaboulet Aîné 2015

Though Jaboulet is better known for Hermitage and Crozes, the family always felt very close to Cornas on the other side of the river and the connection remains. Ripe and full with blackcurrant and olive flavours. 2021–2032. Magnums available.

RH44911 Bottles6 Price£105.00 Type
RH44931

Cornas Patou, Domaine Dumien Serrette 2015

Gilbert Serrette married into a family of growers and learned to make wine from his father-in-law, Henri Dumien. The cellars are among my favourites: earthen floors, yet clean and tidy, and the church spire seems to loom directly above, a sign perhaps that these wines may be blessed! As usual, all the barrels were tasted and there wasn’t a weak one. Juicy and expressive, with flavours of blackcurrant, olive and spice. 2021–2034.

RH44931 Bottles6 Price£105.00 Type
RH44921

Cornas, Nicolas Perrin 2015

The fruit for this savoury, long-flavoured Cornas comes in part from Saint-Pierre and was farmed by Philippe and Vincent Jaboulet. Delicious notes of graphite and stony fruit. 2021–2029.

RH44921 Bottles6 Price£110.00 Type
RH43881

Cornas Lieu-Dit Patou, Ferraton 2015

A weighty, full-flavoured wine from the Patou vineyard, which lies at the southern end of Cornas in something of a sun trap. Dark, ripe and satisfyingly long. 2020–2031.

RH43881 Bottles6 Price£118.00 Type
RH43911

Cornas Les Eygats, Ferraton 2015

Les Eygats is a vineyard to the north of Cornas and set quite high up the escarpment. The wines always have more grip than those of Patou or Sabarotte. This is tight, finely grained, well balanced and will be ideal with game, for example. 2021–2032.

RH43911 Bottles6 Price£125.00 Type
RH44941

Cornas Les Eygats, Domaine Courbis 2015

2015 is the perfect vintage for this vineyard. In a lesser year, the wines can appear somewhat angular. Not so in 2015. This is richly flavoured with delicious notes of Morello cherry to the fore. 2021–2030.

RH44941 Bottles6 Price£145.00 Type
RH44961

Cornas La Geynale, Domaine Vincent Paris 2016

Vincent Paris is a young vigneron who acquired his vineyard from his uncle, Robert Michel. The best fruit comes from very old vines planted on the Geynale slope. Big concentration of flavour here, with the weight of sweet-tasting blackberry fruit and tapenade-like complexity. 2022–2031.

RH44961 Bottles6 Price£155.00 Type
RH44991

Cornas Domaine Saint Pierre, Paul Jaboulet Aîné 2015

In great vintages, those vines right at the top of Cornas, past the chapel dedicated to Saint Peter, come into their own to produce a style that encapsulates both power and elegance. The 2015 has great depth of flavour and complexity. 2025–2037.

RH44991 Bottles6 Price£190.00 Type
RH44971

Cornas Sabarotte, Domaine Courbis 2015

Courbis’s top wine is splendid, rich and concentrated. Brothers Laurent and Dominique Courbis always make wine that has a certain polish and are masters of barrel ageing, with all new French oak used for this cuvée. Great density and weight of fruit in 2015. 2022–2033.

RH44971 Bottles6 Price£195.00 Type
RH44981

Cornas Vieilles Vignes, Domaine Voge 2015

Alain Voge owns some of the best plots in Cornas which are now worked by his partner, Albéric Mazoyer, who used to be winemaker at Chapoutier. This is multi-dimensional with great depth and concentration. Juicy, tannic and richly flavoured. 2022–2034.

RH44981 Bottles6 Price£200.00 Type
RH45001

Cornas Les Vieille Fontaines, Domaine Voge 2015

This cuvée of old vines is only made in top vintages. The 2015 has immense presence, with flavours of tapenade and blackberry. 2023–2037.

RH45001 Bottles6 Price£305.00 Type
RH46511

Cornas Les Chaillots, Domaine Thierry Allemand 2015

Thierry Allemand makes this cuvée from some of his younger vines, particularly those planted on the steep Chaillots slope. This is dark and brimming with black-fruit flavours, and should be kept until 2020 at least. 2020–2035.

RH46511 Bottles6 Price£390.00 Type
RH45011

Cornas Les Reynards, Domaine Thierry Allemand 2015

Reynards is often said to make the grandest, most complex wine in Cornas. Thierry Allemand, the wild man of the north, owns fabulous vines here that in some cases date back to 1900. Very concentrated and complete. A heavy vintage, Thierry says. 2023–2037.
