Viña Amézola Gran Reserva, Rioja, 2001
"Quite a light aroma, but lovely, of vanilla, ripe fruit and something almost minty or of eucalyptus: strawberries, raspberries and mostly cranberries, combined with sweetish, herby, gamey notes, reminiscent of roast pheasant. Medium body, medium acid, highish tannins, almost with a hint of sweetness, very tasty, fresh and lively on the palate, with a long finish of fruit, oak, and very obviously coconut at the very end that lingers on for quite a while. Temperanillo, Mazuelo, Graciano, 30 months in oak."
