A blend of grenache, carignan and mourvèdre from the Roussillon. Deep purple-red, full spicy southern berry fruit with all the fleshiness of sun-blest grapes plus garriguey spice and nice natural tannins. A good vigorous wine.

Members' Reviews

"Excellent value for money French red wine. Very enjoyable!"
Mr Chris Barclay (22-Aug-2010)
"Outstanding value. A great red for quaffing, just the right balance for an everyday wine. Another case please, no make that two."
Mr Ken Barker (17-Jul-2010)
"I was the biggest fan of this red as my previous review attests but my recent purchase tells me that the blend has changed. Now it just tastes like cheap red wine, which is a shame, I will be regrettably cooking with the remaining bottles."
Mr Mohammed Haque (29-Jun-2010)
"Fantastic wine."
Mr Peter Bull (04-Jun-2010)
"Splendid, it would be petty to criticise this wine at this price. Make sure it's at room temperature, give it half an hour to develop then quaff away. Not tart, not tannic, relatively smooth and definately flavoursome. Certainly justifies having a case in the garage - I'd be happier taking a bottle of this to a party (or two or three bottles) than a supermarket bottle."
Mr Steve Taylor (26-Jan-2010)
"This has become a family favourite - incredible value for money."
Mr Graham Horsley (01-Jan-2010)
"Out of a mixed case of buyers favourites (in which there were some good value gems) - this was the least appealing by some margin. I found it fairly rough, even for the price."
Mr Peter J Baden (29-Nov-2009)
"Why buy many wines that are far more expensive, when you you can drink this? Superb value."
Richard F Lloyd Esq (17-Nov-2009)
"if there is a better value red wine in the world, then my wife and I haven't found it. How you can produce it for under a fiver, goodness only knows. Please don't stop"
Mr Stuart Pemble (11-Nov-2009)
"I shall be ordering my third case of this shortly. It goes all too quickly! An excellent wine at the price, just as I have come to expect from the Society."
Peter Birch Esq BSc (29-Oct-2009)
"As my friend Neil would say, its a fantastic Wednesday night wine. The price is very good, its smooth and full of fruit."
Mr Mike Gerrard (25-Oct-2009)
"I have a serious problem with this wine - it never lasts! Purchased on the recent dozen discount, this wine tastes much better than a £5 tag. Utterly quaffable!"
Mr Mohammed Haque (06-Oct-2009)
"You can never heap too much praise on this wine. In my experience it is a most excellent, full bodied wine with the right alcoholic content and price. We drink it at any time but mostly with red meats and cheese. According to my wife, the only problem she has with it is that it develops a hole in the glass causing the wine to disappear far too quickly. I hope other members don't have this problem as well!!"
Mr Christopher Edwards (29-Sep-2009)
"Excellent value. I enjoy this wine more than a lot of wines significantly more expensive. It is therefore a splendid every day wine."
Mr Richard Wallace (05-Sep-2009)
"Always satisfies every time we open a bottle, with its rich, warm aromas of spicy red berry fruit and soft tannins. Could be mistaken for something much pricier - simply outstanding value!!"
Mr Colin Graham (03-Sep-2009)
"Excellent value for money, though some batches are better than others. We often take this to parties and have found that people who know us always tend to move in on the Society's French Full Red rather than the wine they themselves brought, demonstrating its reliable, popular appeal! The label may look dated, but the wine is full, fruity and robust. It is great with food or on its own. This is a firm favourite in our family."
David C Brann Esq (01-Sep-2009)
"I recently discovered this wine. I find it excellent for the price and it has become our everyday red. It is a robust full bodied wine which we drink with red meats and cheese."
John A Mobbs Esq (01-Sep-2009)
