Greece

Nobody can doubt that Eastern Europe and beyond, once a cradle of wine production, has huge potential. That potential is being realised best by smallish individual estates which are the dynamic drivers of quality.

Though subject to a continental climate of hot summers, Greece, Hungary and Slovenia produce remarkable individual white wines with lovely fruit acidity, balance and individuality to rival more famous names from Western Europe. It is an error to ignore these revitalised ancient wine regions.
