Wine club of the Year… again

We’re delighted to say that we have once again been voted Wine Club of the Year at the IWC (International Wine Challenge) awards, the so-called ‘oscars of the wine trade’! and to top off a great evening, we also won two Regional Specialist awards, recognising our ranges for both Portugal and Regional France. Here’s what the judges said:

‘Another outstanding year for The Wine Society with a huge range of offers and countries explored. Clear benefits for members include myriad events and walkaround tastings as well as extraordinary cellaring facilities. Customer service is always amazing.’

Being named Specialist Merchant of the Year for Portugal is a very special award for us (and one which we’ve won for two years running). We were founded on casks of Portuguese wine back in 1874, and the country’s wines have always held a special place in our hearts. We hope that this recognition encourages you to explore the incredible quality and value available. We were also thrilled to be named the UK’s best Regional France merchant for the third year in a row. it remains a privilege and a pleasure to bring our members the best of France’s vineyards and to work with such an incredible array of talented and committed growers.

Interim CEO Liz Cerroti said: ‘We’re obviously delighted that the hard work of all the staff has been rewarded in this way. thanks to our co-operative model, we’re free to champion the joy of great wine by sourcing the best bottles we can, selling them at the best prices we can muster and making sure we provide excellent levels of service. it’s a simple business model really, but one that, with the support of our members, works.’
