The 2019 vintage was truly born under the sign of fire. Officially, a little over 46C was recorded last summer. Off the record, many thermometers went off the scale at 50. This sudden spike left its mark especially in the eastern part of the Languedoc. There were fires in some places, especially around Nîmes. And there were lots of dead, shrivelled grapes. But essentially the south of France produced excellent wines in 2019.
