A tour of our award-winning range
During a three-day buying trip to this part of France, I cover around 1,000 miles. It is a vast area, bordered by the Atlantic, Pyrenees and Massif Central. And for 1,000 years pilgrims have been stopping by, resting sore limbs, on their way to Compostela. A string of staging posts offered shelter and supplied wines to quench raging thirsts.
That is how many of the wines of the south-west began and today its widely scattered vineyards are filled with a veritable cornucopia of grape varieties, some found nowhere else. The choice of wine in this whistle-stop tour is wonderfully diverse, and prices start from just £6.75. And as Christmas is not too far away, there are some seasonal treats, including a couple of delicious Armagnacs!
