Château de Blissa

Located at the confluence of the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, and high enough to enjoy views of Bordeaux itself across the waters, Château de Blissa lies in the appellation of Bourg and dates back to 1640. The current owner is Stéphane Destrade, an Englishman and economics graduate of Surrey University, whose family bought the property in 1950.

He possesses 12 unbroken hectares of vines, some of them up to 100 years old, which are tended with great care, with as little intervention as possible and only with organic fertilisers. Cabernet sauvignon, merlot, malbec and cabernet franc, all grown on clay-limestone, gravel and hardpan soils, are harvested by hand and sorted at the winery to ensure that only the healthiest fruit makes it into the press.
