Château Martinat

Stéphane Donze bought Château Martinat in Blaye, with its 24 hectares in 1994 and totally rebuilt the vineyard to produce top-quality wines.

It is planted with merlot and malbec, with vines 40 to 55 years old which grow in a mixture of clay and gravel. The harvest is carried out by hand and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel, and the wine is aged in older barrels for between 14 to 18 months, depending on the qualities of the vintage, before bottling.

With winemaking consultant Christian Veyry's help, Stéphane aims for ripe fruit, elegance and balance.
