Château de Paret

The Fauchey family have been making wine in the Bordeaux area since the 17th century and Château Paret has been in their hands since 1884.

It lies in Castillon, in this case very close to the boundary with Saint-Emilion. As with their famous neighbour, winemakers in Castillon draw upon merlot as their principal variety, and at Paret it is supported by the two cabernets, sauvignon and franc.

The vines enjoy excellent exposure on slopes overlooking the Dordogne, where clay topsoil is underpinned by limestone and in the cellars the Faucheys are modernists, ageing the reds exclusively in stainless steel to allow the fruit character to shine.
