The co-operative at Ribeauvillé is France’s oldest, having been founded in 1895. It’s not a large co-operative and is very much focused on the town of Ribeauvillé and surrounding villages.
Its speciality is riesling, not surprisingly given the quality of the terroir with its preponderance of chalk. Quality here is on the up thanks in part to Denis Dubourdieu who is a consultant. Recent years have seen much investment in both the vineyards and the cellars which again have benefited quality.
