This property and its wine encapsulate the quality and finesse of wines of the region and their tradition. Duplessis is named after Armand du Plessis, nephew of Cardinal Richelieu, whose hunting lodge it once was.
The property is now owned by Marie-Laure Lurton, of the hugely influential Lurton family whose understanding of what gives Bordeaux wines their character runs deep. The vineyard is planted on clayey-sandy and clayey-marl top soil on a platform of limestone with vines averaging 25 years of age. Harvesting is by hand and the wine is raised in French oak barrels.
