This company was founded in 1999, and is located on the island of Pantelleria, south-west of Sicily. Owner Calogero Mannino (former Minister of Agriculture) wisely employed Giacomo Tachis to consult on winemaking and Attilio Scienza to advise on grapes and soil matching.
His is the first estate on the island to make dry whites and reds, with 26 hectares of vines planted on a wide range of soils, ranging from 120 to 400 metres above sea level. As well as zibibbo, Pantelleria’s chief grape variety, the team also grows carignan, grenache, syrah and nero d’Avola.
We buy Kuddia di Zè, sourced from a vineyard of the same name, which is a blend of syrah, grenache and carignan that is aged for 12 months in oak.
