Cantina di Monteforte

The Cantina di Monteforte co-op, with 600 members, is in the eastern part of Soave Classico, where they have 1200 hectares of vines, partly in Classico and partly outside. 60 per cent of their vineyards are on the hills facing south and south-east. Cool summer breezes blowing down the Alpine valley from the Dolomites give warm days and cool nights which help the accumulation of aromatic character in the grapes. New Zealander Matt Thomson works with winery director Gaetano Tobin to ensure the best modern winemaking.
