Pasquale Lunati founded this property in the early 1950s, and it remains a family business, with his grandchildren continuing his winemaking philosophy.
The estate is located in Nova Siri, a commune in the Matera province, which is part of the Basilicata region on Italy’s instep. The 19 hectares of Taverna vineyards are in the hills close to Metaponto, where they benefit from southern sunshine moderated by the breeze from the Mediterranean close by. As well as international varieties like muscat and syrah, the team grows popular native varieties like aglianico and primitivo. We have bought all of these in the past.
Vinification takes place in the modern, temperature-controlled facilities, preserving the grapes’ perfume and freshness.
