Located just outside Trapani in north-west Sicily, this estate is owned by Antonio Manzara, a Trapani accountant, along with his daughter Sara and son Francesco. The family has been bottling its wines since 1996, and chose the name Ottoventi – which translates as ‘eight winds’ – as a symbol of the diversity of the landscape in this part of Sicily.
Antonio and his family own 40 hectares of vines outside Trapani, 70% of which are white, and 8 hectares are beneath the imposing hills of Erice.
Winemaker Isabella Tunbarilla and her consultant Guzzo (who was with Regaleali for 25 years) are particularly expert at making the most of local white grape varieties grillo, zibibbo and catarratto.
