The brother and sister team of Marco and Tiziana Parusso manage this estate located between Monforte and Castiglione Falletto in the heart of Barolo. Marco made his first Barolo in 1986 when he was recently qualified after studying as an oenologist and he and his sister have worked tirelessly ever since to make wines which truly express their terroir. Naturally enough they focus on nebbiolo, barbera and dolcetto, the traditional grapes of the region, but have added sauvignon blanc from beyond Barolo's borders for their white wines.
Their 22 hectares of excellent vineyard sites embrace a variety of chalk, clay, sand and marl soils in the famous areas of Bussia, Le Coste, and Mosconi in Monforte d'Alba, and Mariondino in Castiglione Falletto. Great diligence in the vinyards, including innovative soil studies and special pruning regimes for each plot, is allied to modern winemaking in the cellars. The wines are aged on their lees in small barrels because Marco feels that this gives them greater richness and complexity and they achieve lovely fruit perfume and balance.
