The hamlet of Sangervasio was founded in 744 AD and was for a very long time the property of the della Gherardesca family. The Tommasini family acquired the fortified hamlet and estate in the 1960s and today Luca Tommasini manages the estate and wine cellar with the advice of renowned Tuscan winemaker Luca d'Attoma.
22 hectares of the 400 hectare estate are dedicated to vines. All of the grapes are organically grown with narrow-spaced, low-yielding vines, and respect for nature and minimal intervention are paramount. Grapes achieve excellent balance of concentration, finesse and freshness and are hand-picked and left in cold storage overnight before being crushed and fermented. They then receive 6 months' maturation in cement vessels before bottling.
