Maison Bruno Sorg

Eguisheim

The Sorg family have been making wine in Alsace since the 18th century. This particular domaine was created in 1965 by Renée and Bruno Sorg in Ingersheim, the village where Renée Sorg was born. In 1972, they bought a house with its outbuildings in the pretty village of Eguisheim where the estate is still to be found. Eguisheim is also one of the most important villages in Alsace with two grand cru vineyards above the village where the Sorgs have a decent parcel in each. As with most growers they have all the Alsace grape varieties to offer, but their gewurztraminer is especially richly textured with just the right amount of spice. It is also extremely good value. Renée and Bruno’s son François Sorg is now in charge.
