The Nuy (pronounced Ney) Wine Cellar cooperative was established in 1963 and now has 23 members. They are one of the smallest cooperatives in south Africa but they have a big reputation.
At their winery in Worcester, at the foot off the Langeberg Mountains, they make a range of wines including red and white muscadels (muscats) but Society members will be most familiar with the red version we have purchased over the last few years.
Despite a traditoin of making it production of muscadel has been in decline in recent years so is now only 12% of the winery's output but the wines have a great reputation and represent astonishing value for money.
