This was one of the first estates in this part of France to bottle its own wines in the 1960s. The extensive vineyards border on the Massif d'Uchaux, a large and heavily wooded range of hills that border the left bank of the Rhône north of Orange.
Constant cool breezes create a definite microclimate here and perfect conditions for ripening grapes, especially grenache and syrah. A few years ago this was officially recognised with the creation of a new villages appellation, Massif d'Uchaux. Saint-Estève reserve this for their top wines.
