Riverland Wine Group

Riverland Wine Group is a growers co-operative based in the Lower Murray Valley. This area, with is warm continental climate and numerous river tributaries, is famous for producing 90% of Australia’s citrus fruit and a large crop of almonds, alongside a very substantial acreage of vines.

Chardonnay is particularly well suited to this part of Australia, ripening fully, usually under large leaf canopies to give the fruit some shade, though most grape varieties ripen easily. Often the grapes are picked at night so that the fruit remains cool before being fermented, thus protecting the fruit character and aromatics in the finished wines, especially whites.
