Domaine Dujac 2022

Beautiful Burgundies of very high quality

Domaine Dujac 2022

The 2022 vintage at Dujac produced beautiful wines of very high quality. Despite the very warm weather, the wines have Burgundian typicity and have achieved ripeness around alcohols of 13.5-14% and the normal register of aromas.

‘Dujac’ stands for Domaine Du Jacques Seysses, who began making wines in 1968 and has now handed over to his two sons. Jeremy looks after winemaking and Alec looks after sales. The premiers and grands crus are now cultivated biodynamically. The wines are aged in relatively new oak for 14–16 months.

Order by midday on Friday 28th June

2022 harvest and vinification report by the domaine:

‘Very little sorting was necessary beyond the now common dried berries to be removed. Sugar levels were good without being excessive, as were acidity levels, with low levels of malic acid and a high proportion of tartaric acid. About 85% whole bunch was used for all the wines. Gentle extraction has been the norm for some time now, and so it was again in 2022. We did very few punch-downs, preferring gentler pumping-over. With thick skins, there was little need to push extraction.

‘Despite the warm summer, the 2022s have plenty of freshness as well as great terroir expression. The reds are beautifully balanced with intense fruit and a very expressive character. The tannins are perfectly ripe, silky, and long. The acidity is good, bringing precision and a fine texture to the wines.’
