Geyerhof
Records go back to 1135 for this family estate, which has, rather refreshingly, tended to be passed from mother to daughter. It was once home to a shipbuilding company and was even managed by Georg Ritter von Trapp in the 1920s, who was immortalised in The Sound of Music.
In more recent history, the winery was an early adopter of organic and biodynamic farming and have some of the most thorough and progressive sustainable practices of any winery that we work with at The Wine Society. The new generation is now at the helm: Josef Maier, who took over from his mother Ilse, along with his wife Maria. They continue to pay homage to the history and importance of biodynamic winemaking at this estate and have focussed their efforts into driving forward the quality of their wines, restoring the beautiful old estate and working the land as sensitively as possible, with the help of their two beautiful shire horses, Waldi and Floki.
To support our en primeur offer, Josef and Maria have held their pricing from the previous vintage, making these especially good value.
