Weingut Wess
Still only in her late 20s, Christina Wess’ skill, experience and fierce determination make her one of the fastest rising stars in European wine.
This may be the youngest winery in our en primeur offer, but the expertise behind the wines is unquestionable. Rainer Wess has spent decades making wine in Austria, working for many years at leading cooperative Domäne Wachau. In 2003, Rainer set up his solo project, then called Weingut Rainer Wess, and was soon shadowed closely by his daughter Christina. After working vintages at a handful of top estates in Burgundy, as well as Germany and beyond, Christina started to slowly take over the family estate and did so officially during the 2022 harvest. The 2023 vintage is the first where we start to truly see the positive and elevating impact of her winemaking direction.
