Weingut Alwin & Stefanie Jurtschitsch
The Jurschitsch winery dates to the 1500s, and since 1868 has been passed through Alwin’s family before he and his wife Stefanie inherited it. One of their most significant influences on this historic business was to drastically reduce the amount of vineyard holdings, keeping just the best sites, and converting to organics. Their aim is to capture freshness in their wines and reflect the vineyard site in as pure and unadulterated way as possible. They pick early and as a result their wines are fine-boned, crystalline and finessed. For the first time, they have taken Heiligenstin one step further and split the best grapes into two bottlings, to home in on two distinct areas of this vineyard; the warm, southerly facing Rotfels and the cool, westerly facing Steinwand. Truly special wines and remarkably good value.
