Weingut Stadt Krems
This winery is not only based in the city of Krems an der Donau but is also owned by the city municipality. It has existed in some form or other since 1452, when it was founded as a source of revenue for the town’s hospital. It is now run by Fritz Miesbauer, who joined in 2003 and has transformed this winery from a somewhat outdated and sleepy estate to an excellent and consistently reliable producer. The wines are uncomplicated, charming and joyful to drink, with a crystalline fruit character and juicy approachability throughout the range. Their upfront style and keen pricing make them a perfect choice for both newcomers and keen experts of Austrian wine.
