Saint-Joseph
Laid out on a map, Saint-Joseph looks long and thin, like Chile. It occupies lots of nooks and crannies along the right bank of the Rhône, starting at the south side of Saint-Péray and reaching to just short of Condrieu, a distance of some 30 miles. The vineyards are often steep and granite based, and the wines are terrific, expressing the best that syrah can do and at prices that remain modest. A fabulous vintage in 2022.
