Margaret River has long been recognised as one of the world’s great cabernet sauvignon regions. With its maritime climate, gravelly soils, and consistently high-quality vintages, it produces wines of elegance, balance and structure. Few names in this part of Australia are as revered as Xanadu, and even fewer winemakers have the track record of Glenn Goodall. Since taking the reins as chief winemaker in 2005, Glenn has steered Xanadu to extraordinary success, winning Best Cabernet at Australia’s National Wine Show an astonishing nine years in a row, as well as being named Halliday’s Winemaker of the Year in 2023.
The 2024 vintage in Margaret River was shaped by a long and steady growing season, producing cabernet sauvignons that are beautifully perfumed, finely structured and fresh. A later-than-usual start to the harvest allowed the fruit to ripen evenly, developing excellent flavour concentration while retaining the bright acidity that gives these wines their longevity.
Blended exclusively for Society members, this is a classic Margaret River cabernet sauvignon, made entirely from estate-grown fruit, with 5% petit verdot adding extra depth and floral lift to the wine. Plush cassis and plum notes are supported by hints of bay leaf and an earthy complexity, wrapped in silky tannins that give structure without austerity.
