Chris Alheit is one of the current stars in the Cape, and his wines have quickly become some of South Africa’s most sought after. He has shown absolute mastery in both his winemaking – creating a distinct, drinkable style across his range – but also his ability to find old-vine chenin vineyards, guiding them into bottle with minimal intrusion. We’re thrilled to be offering his 2023s.
As well as his world-renowned whites, this year we are delighted to offer a UK exclusive of Fogwell, a syrah of exquisite quality. Crafted by Chris and his close friend, William Fogwell, this wine historically has only ever been offered in South Africa. Lovers of the northern Rhône should not miss it.

2023 continues a brilliant run of vintages for Chris. It was a difficult vintage for many as late rains impeded harvest for later-ripening grapes, but Chris was unaffected: his focus on old vines and freshness meant he was able to harvest early. The wines all show the Alheit hallmarks of sumptuous texture, purity and presence. They possess the complexity and intensity of a master craftsmen, with the subtlety of a wine entirely untouched. The whites were in huge demand last year but we highly encourage you to go in again to secure these wonderful wines.
