We are delighted to be able to offer members first refusal on the maiden vintage of Marc Kent and Rita Marques’ new flagship red, a beautifully presented, exquisitely crafted blend from old vineyards in the heart of the Douro. The unique label is based on an original by celebrated South African artist William Kentridge, and we expect the wine to be sought after by collectors and wine lovers alike.

We were among the first to ship wines from Companhia de Vinhos Invencivel, or Invincible as they are better known, when they launched their first wines in 2021, and it has already shown itself to be the fruitful partnership we knew it would be. Rita Marques had quietly, thoughtfully, been making wine in the Douro Valley for years. Then one of those wonderful wine world exchanges of culture and winemaking experience resulted in a friendship and collaboration with Marc Kent, long-term Cellarmaster, now Technical Director, of Boekenhoutskloof in South Africa. They have invested in an old Quinta and tiny winery in the heart of the Douro, currently under re-construction, and continue to rent neighbouring vineyards where this new wine hails from.
Around 3000 bottles of this first vintage were made and we expect demand to be high. A refined beauty of a wine now if you enjoy the perfume, freshness and vigour of a young red, or cellar for greater flavour development and complexity, in the words of Marc Kent “for ten to fifteen years with a smile”.
