Tuscany’s world-famous Ornellaia is one of Italy’s biggest fine-wine names, and in a fantastic vintage such as 2021, I feel their second wine – Le Serre Nuove – represents superb value. I am delighted to offer it to members to reserve in-bond.
Order by midday on Tuesday 5th March
This wine is made with the same meticulous attention to detail in vineyard and cellar as Ornellaia’s top red and is a serious fine wine in its own right. A blend of cabernet, merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot, it was aged in barrique for 15 months. It is best decanted for an hour to allow its complex combination of cassis, leather, autumn leaves and liquorice aromas to open and express itself. On the palate, there’s a great balance between firm tannic structure, bright acidity, richness and length, making it a remarkably elegant wine. While fragrant and appealing already, a very bright future awaits those with patience.
