The estate was founded in 1972 by Denis and Tricia Horgan, largely thanks to legendary Napa Valley winemaker Robert Mondavi, who recognised the potential in the site in Margaret River. Mondavi mentored the Hogans in the early days and planted the first chardonnay in the area in 1975. The first commercial release from that block was the 1979 Art Series Chardonnay, which received major recognition and put the winery firmly on the map.
Since then, Art Series Chardonnay has become one of the most renowned white wines in the world. The Art Series range, the very top tier of Leeuwin’s production, now consists of four fine wines. It is an honour to be able to offer Wine Society members the chance to secure them now and enjoy them over the coming years.
