I am delighted to offer our members the first chance to buy the new vintage of Silver Oak’s Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon – the magnificent and memorable 2020 – ahead of its official release in August.
This is the quintessential Californian cabernet and the 2020 is impossible not to love. It is immediate and effusive, with ripe blackberry and plum on the palate, segueing into sweet spice and melted chocolate and a velvety, decadent mouthfeel. It is, as always, generous and full-bodied, but the significant fruit concentration is balanced by freshness.
Order by midday on Friday 26th July
The wine is famously aged exclusively in American oak and the winery is one of just a handful in the US with its own cooperage (situated in Missouri conveniently close to where the best white oak is grown). After two years of the wine ageing in 50% new and 50% one-year-old American barrels, and a further two years in bottle, the oak’s influence enhances and uplifts the gorgeous black and blue fruits and brings suppleness and fluidity to the cabernet tannins.
This exceptional wine is ready to go now, but has a long life ahead of it and can easily be cellared for a decade or more.
